Bonnie Boswell is an award-winning producer/reporter, talk show host and speaker. Ms. Boswell is currently the executive producer/reporter of Bonnie Boswell Reports, a feature news series that airs during PBS NewsHour Weekend on PBS SoCal. Ms. Boswell has been a news reporter for NBC Los Angeles where she developed a weekly feature spot for a top evening news program. She was also the producer/co-host of “Lawson, Live,” a live, call-in political talk show with legendary civil rights leader Pastor James M. Lawson, an associate producer for ABC News’ “20/20,” and the producer of “Positively Black,” an NBC-New York magazine show and broadcast editorialist for NBC-New York.

Bonnie Boswell is the executive producer of “The Powerbroker: Whitney Young’s Fight for Civil Rights,” a film about her uncle that aired on PBS’ Independent Lens and was seen by over 2 million viewers and shown in 100 community forums across the country. First Lady Michelle Obama presented the film at the White House as part of the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington, calling Ms. Boswell’s work, “very moving and powerful.” Articles about the film appeared in The New York Times, The Daily Beast, The Chicago Tribune, The Chicago Sun Times and The San Francisco Chronicle.

Ms. Boswell has given two TED talks with the popular TEDxTalks series and an interviewer for TedxTalks Salon. She has been a guest speaker at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, Harvard Law School, The Wharton School of Business, Princeton University, and The National Endowment for the Humanities. Ms. Boswell is currently on the board of Roberts Enterprise Development Fund (REDF), Burning Glass Technologies, and Community Partners and is a past executive board member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. She has appeared on The Today Show, CNN’s Talk Back, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Show in 2013, in addition to the following shows:

A graduate of Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Ms. Boswell received the prestigious Golden Mike Award for “Best News Special” for “Seeds of Peace,” a one-hour special she produced on violence in America for NBC, starring Martin Sheen and Alfre Woodard. She also received a Public Broadcasting Award for Senior Producers from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and an “Excellence in Media” award from Black Enterprise. Ms. Boswell’s articles have appeared in the Los Angeles Times, Essence magazine and the Radcliffe Quarterly. She is a past executive board member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Ms. Boswell lives with her family in Los Angeles.
